Ocean Freight Service Overview

How Long does Sea Freight from China To Ireland Take?

Ocean Shipping from China to Ireland usually takes between 6 to 8 weeks for both Full Container Load (FCL) and Less than Container Load (LCL) shipments, dependent on the origin port in China.

These transit times include both sailing and port handling at origin and destination.

We service the 12 major maritime ports in China, with regular weekly sailings from Chinese ports into Europe on both FCL and LCL services.

The one major caveat with Ocean Shipping is its unreliability. Whilst very inexpensive considering the distances covered and volumes moved per container, ocean freight is slow, and notoriously prone to delays. Weather patterns, port congestion en-route, geopolitical tensions and mechanical issues with vessels all contribute to longer than anticipated transit times - and whilst the shipping lines make every effort to minimise transit times - there are certain elements that are simply beyond their control. With this in mind it needs to be remembered that ocean shipping is a solution where cost is more important a factor in selecting a transport mode than speed.
